MUSCLE ANATOMY, MOTION CAPTURE & ANIMATION IN SPORTS SCIENCE

ABERYSTWYTH UNIVERSITY

This video animation shows typical use of muscle groups in the leg during walking. It was created Matt Cawte of the CADARN Learning Portal and Marco Arkesteijn of Aberystwyth University for use in Sport and Exercise modules. The animation shows students when muscles are active while walking and also the function of these muscles during walking. Visualisation of these processes are helpful as they allow students to directly link muscle activation to movement, one of the key applications in a biomechanical analysis of human movement.
